How to Make Your Own Facepaint!

facepaint tiger Forget the expensive and possibly toxic store bought face paint. You can make a rainbow of colors with homemade face paint for a fraction of the cost. Customize the facepaint for just your own trick or treaters, or create enough face paint for a party or a Halloween event.

Ingredients:

1 tsp. cornstarch,
1/2 tsp. water,
1/2 tsp. cold cream,
2 drops food coloring

Repeat ingredients for each color of the homemade face paint that you need. The face paint goes a long way, but for multiple children, increase the recipe to make sure you have enough to go around.

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and mix it well. Place the face paint in fridge for two hours to let it firm up. Make sure that you apply the paint to a clean dry face. Note, just like the store bought face paint, you’ll need to let it set for at least 20 minutes in order for it to be smudge proof. We just try and convince the kids not to touch their faces.

Now that you have your face paint, you might be looking for ideas on how to use it. There are several design ideas, as well as tutorials online that will help you make the perfect cat, spiderman, vampire, butterfly or ice princess.

For easy use, save some styrofoam egg cartons and use the cups to hold individual colors. Don’t forget to have extra paint brushes on hand.
