Manufacturers are turning more and more to printable coupons and discounts you load on your loyalty cards to promote their products and give you additional savings.
It is pretty common knowledge that you can go to several great sites and print coupons. Many websites that are of interest to deal hunters will have links to coupons.com, smartsource.com, and redplum.com. Some will have links to bettycrocker.com, pillsbury.com, and various manufacturer websites that offer printable coupons. If you want a really good list of those, try this list here. They update it frequently.
Printable coupons are not to everyone’s liking. You’re paying for the paper and the ink. Some people are suspicious of the need to install a “coupon printer”. This is the program that enables your computer to send the coupon to your printer. You are usually limited to two printings. And sometimes, try though you might, you just cannot get them to print.
When you cannot get a coupon to print, it could be an issue with your browser. I’ve found this is particularly true with Smartsource. It will give me an error message that says I must have Java enabled – and I do! But I am printing in Firefox. When I switch to Internet Explorer, the problem goes away.
Here’s a trick for recognizing this on some manufacturers sites.
When you click the link for the coupon, you’ll see with some of them in the middle of the code the letters Vi&o. This is for Internet explorer. The code wg&o is for Firefox. The code xg&o is for Firefox on the Mac. So if you are in Firefox, and you see Explorer code, try changing it.
Printable coupons really expand your savings, and they are often very high value, so don’t be discouraged – keep trying to print them, keep looking for new ones to share.
