Do you know that you could easily spend hundreds of dollars during your fall yard work. I’m not even talking about the cost of purchasing plants and trees but simply the money it can take to do your clean up. Obviously, some home have more work than others, but every home can use the following tips to save money.
Rent Equipment
Thanks to local home improvement centers, there is no need to buy expensive yard work equipment that is only used a couple of times per year. Instead look into the cost of renting. A professional leaf blower will save you time and money, and you can rent it by the day or week.
Share Equipment
We have a great relationship with our neighbors, and this allows us to save money when it comes to the fall yard work. Rather than each of us having to spend money on equipment, we are able to share it. For example, we own the heavy duty chain saw in the neighborhood, our neighbors across the street have the leaf blower, and the neighbors to the right of us have a small tractor. We all share, and this saves.
Find Alternative Methods
Over the weekend, I was talking to some new friends and found out that they maintain their grass not with a lawn mower but with a goat. As a bonus, the goat also gives milk. While your home might not be zoned for a goat (or it might not be your thing) being able to think outside of the box for fall yard work can save you money.
Trade
Got a tree that has to come down? Why not trade the service for the wood from the tree? Cuttings or plantings can be traded for others, home cooked freezer meals could be traded for lawn service. The possibilities are many.
