Just shopping at Target the other day, I couldn’t believe the price of makeup! I’m afraid that it has been a while since I bought some. Sadly, I usually only remember to wear makeup for special occasions. As a work at home mom, it usually seems like more trouble than it is worth.
Of course, I’d like to take advantage of makeup to bring out my features and make me look a little nicer. So, I’ve had to do some research and some brainstorming on how to get the most for my money and then make that makeup last as long as it can. Here is what I have discovered.
Elf
Elf makeup which can be found online, or yes, at Target, is pretty inexpensive. Makeup brushes, for example, will only run you about a dollar each, and they are well made. Make sure to wash them with a little bit of mild shampoo and air dry them on a regular basis to make your brushes last longer.
Eye shadow and blush from Elf are also good bargains.
Samples
Make it a habit to browse through freebie sites for free samples of make up and other cosmetics. If you use as little as I do, you may never have to buy make up again.
Hold a Beauty Swap
We all have makeup and other cosmetics that we never actually used. Hold a beauty swap meet where all of your friends can get together to swap items that they don’t want. Just don’t swap used makeup for health reasons.
Make sure to invite the Avon lady, who might have some free samples to share.
Choose All-Purpose Shades
Pink eyeshadow can double as blush or cheek highlight or can neutralize dark circles under your eyes when you apply it under your concealer. A brown eyebrow pencil can double as eyeliner, and lipstick or lipgloss can be used as blush. When trying to decide between shades, try to figure out if you can use the makeup for more than one area.
