Your pocketbook is not the only one taking a hit in these tough economic times. According to reports, gaming revenue has also plummeted, which is bad news for popular gambling destinations such as Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
But their bad luck could translate into you hitting the jackpot. The creative folks at the brand-new Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City’s Waterfront Tower are trying to generate buzz about their new property by giving away keys to free rooms to random people strolling the streets in various cities.
Mark you calendars! Tomorrow is the day you could score a free room. If you are in New York City on Thursday head over to lower Broadway in the financial district, near the 4/5 Wall Street subway station between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and keep your eyes peeled for reps with Harrah’s logo on them. If lady luck is on your side you’ll score a key and get one free night at the hotel on June 5th. There is no guarantee that you will be one of the lucky ones to get your hands on one of the magical keys especially given the madhouse that could ensue once hordes of people catch wind of the giveaway. (Plus, lower Broadway is a zoo during the noon hour anyway.)
If 2 p.m. rolls around and you find yourself empty handed, take heart. The New York City giveaway is merely the kick-off to a larger $1 million “Giving Away the House” hotel promotion that will eventually give summer travelers the chance to stay in one of 960 Waterfront Tower rooms.
If you live in Philadelphia mark your calendar for May 20th. Washington, D.C. residents you should save the date on May 22nd and folks in Baltimore your chance to win comes on May 28th. Details on exactly when you should head out to the streets in the respective cities are due out in a few days.
I’ll keep you posted. And good luck to those who hit the street of New York to score big Thursday.
