Have you ever wondered how well your kids are coping with life? In a poll by Harris Interactive, for Family Circle, teens, tweens and mothers of tweens and teens were surveyed, with some interesting answers. Here are some highlights of the survey:
(1) 91% of kids would rather talk face-to-face with their parents.
(2) 34% of kids wish their parents wouldn’t get mad at them as much.
(3) 70% of those surveyed said they are happy with how much attention parents give them.
(4) 9% of kids said they spent too much time with their parents.
(5) 92% of mothers are satisfied with their relationship with their kids, while 79% of the kids surveyed were satisfied.
(6) 44% of moms said that it’s okay to treat your kids like friends.
(7) 74% of mothers surveyed said their kids feel comfortable talking to them about anything.
(8) 60% of teens say they feel stressed about everything from bullying to body image.
(9) 35% of teens worry about their weight.
(10) Girls worry more than boys about certain issue: getting good grades, how they look, their weight, getting a disease, being pressured to have sex, for example.
(11) 10% of tweens and 48% of teens report that they can prevent their parents from knowing where they go when they are online.
(12) More than 100,000 tweens have their own blog. 38% of girls have a blog, as opposed to 17% of boys (ages 13 to 17).
(13) A “small but substantial number” of tweens and teens have an email account that their parents don’t know about.
(14) 73% of kids surveyed reported that they are happy most or all of the time.
(15) Kids who live in single parent homes are doing just as well as kids who live with both parents.
(16) 79% of kids were happy in school last year.
