I Love To Weed, I May Need Professional Help

Sometimes people write blogs that inspire you to think about things. Recently Stephanie Romero wrote about Chores That Relax You. I could relate with the fact that she doesn’t find painting relaxing. I don’t either. I get all excited to paint but by the time I’m finished wrestling with all that blue paint, I’m done. It drives me crazy and no matter how careful I am I get paint on the ceiling, trim and carpet. Not relaxing at all.

For me, it’s weeding. Although you couldn’t tell it by the state of my flower beds right now, weeding relaxes me. There is something about sitting in the sunshine, mindlessly pulling things out of the ground, that I find very relaxing.

I also find it relaxing to make my bed. It sounds crazy but I think it’s because it sets the tone in my bedroom and makes my bed look inviting.

Dishes, vacuuming, laundry, none of that stuff is relaxing. Washing dishes can be, if I’m in the right frame of mind but usually I’m just in a hurry to get it done. Dirty clothes just look like a big pile of work, wash, dry, fold, iron, put away, so you can start all over again. Disposable clothes, now that would be relaxing.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all we had to do were the things that relax us? Almost like getting brownie points for having a weed free garden so little fairies come and do the vacuuming for me.

When you read posts like these it makes you realize how different we all are, even when it comes to housework. Most people dread bathrooms but I’ll clean every bathroom in the house if someone else will clean the kitchen. My daughter feels the same way, maybe it’s genetic.

It also means we don’t have the cleanest kitchens but just ask us to clean the kitchen and our bathrooms will soon be shining!
