I Love You – Let Me Show You the Ways

Appreciation for your spouse and love for them can be demonstrated in a myriad of ways. Some of the best ways to show you care are the simplest of ways.

Meal Preparation

When you or your spouse prepares a meal, it demonstrates caring for them. It shows that you want them to eat and eat well. You want them to enjoy their food. Their nutrition and health are extremely important. Food is one of the easiest ways to show affection. In fact, my husband loves to cook. We often split meal duties and we both love to experiment with new recipes. We are honest about what we like and what we do not like. But we have a great deal of fun when we prepare these meals for each other and we both anticipate the others reactions.

Entertainment Choices

To be honest, this is another truly simple way to show your affection. My husband loves to go to the movies. More often than not, he loves to go out every week and sometimes twice in a week if we can afford it. I am not as big a fan as he is. Most movies, I can wait till they come out on DVD. But he enjoys the experience of seeing the movies. It’s a very little thing for me to agree to go. He respects the fact that there are some movies that I really do not want to see and he’s fine with that. If he wants to go and see them, he may take his mother or another friend. By the same token, he will settle in to watch a show that I enjoy as well and we take turns picking the films or movies we watch both inside and outside the house.

Little Gifts

We love to leave each other little surprises and little gifts. There are times we can’t afford expensive items or things that we may like – so making up our own little gifts or picking up a book we think the other might like is part of how we say I love you. Recently, we took a bunch of old movies that we were unlikely to ever watch and traded them in at a game store for credit. It was a great way to let my husband pick up a couple of games he really wanted to play without having to let our budget take the hit. We both enjoyed that!
