I Spy in the Basement Part 2

So, you are still with me, huh? Even after those photos shared probably made you lose your lunch. Or maybe, just like motorists slowing down to take a look at a car accident, you don’t want to look, but you just can’t help it.

I am happy to tell you that while the basement is not yet done (those bothersome things such as work and other obligations get in the way), I have made some progress through a few 15-30 minute sessions here and there throughout the day.

Doing something like this, weeding out and organizing the toys is tough to do when the kids are around, so I snatch my time when I can.

So far, I’ve managed to get rid of the awful cardboard box, filled a large standard sized garbage can for trash and two bags of stuff for donation to Goodwill. I’ve started another container, a small box, for more items to donate to our church nursery. Part of the shelves are neatened up, and I even hung some colorful artwork to hide the newly damaged spot on the wall. Hey, there is even some extra floor that can be seen.

I’ve been mostly ruthless with my cleaning. With a limited amount of time, I nixed the idea of fixing anything broken or counting out the pieces of a 300 piece puzzle to make sure I got them all. I also can clearly see that the number and size of the toys is too much for the space.

Some things I did give more attention, lovingly hunting down pieces and instructions and putting them back together. I felt like I was in a real life version of I Spy, in which I have look at the scene to find a green rubber frog, a pair of dice, a purple crayon and two wind up mice.

I’m still missing two blue frogs, and one red frog.

There is still much more work to be done, but here is the progress in visual form. How am I doing?
