I Still Won’t Weigh

Well my kids are losing weight and keep weighing themselves but I still have not weighed myself I really cant. See with my breast cancer I have now developed something called Lymphedema. Lymphedema is where protein filled fluid basically gets trapped in a limb and when you have lymph nodes removed when you have cancer you are always at risk of developing it. I am not happy about it because starting next week I am going to have this giant compression wrap on my left arm. It is a good thing I am right handed. Well with all this extra fluid I won’t get on the scale as I am worried it may disappoint me.

So far this is what our family has changed in our lives. We have cut soda out (we let the kids have 1 a week) instead we drink water (flavored with crystal light ok), one dessert per week (real dessert) , air popped popcorn with olive oil and parmesan cheese instead of movie theater popcorn. No fast food except one time a week, no French fries with our fast food. The no French fry rule was a hard one to get but they did have a choice no fries or no burger. I told them they can get a fry if they want a salad or they can get a burger with apple slices instead.

Starting this week we are implementing the soup and salad meal every week. Our soups are going to be the homemade ones especially since the FDA came out with their warning about BPA in soup cans. One other meal every week is going to be soup and sandwich wrap. With the cooler months coming our family loves warm soups so this will be an easy way to cut some calories out. Everyone has been doing 30 minutes per night on the exercise bike. The kids are all signed up for basketball and practice starts next week. I figure between the healthy eating and exercise weight is sure to come off. I was to start water aerobics daily starting Monday but with this compression wrap that is out for the next month at least.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
