There’s no recipe to conjure up a great feeling about working out. The truth is – people like it or they don’t. But, you knew there was a but, right? Of course you did. Whether you like working out or not, you are more than likely to enjoy the results of a good workout – especially if you do it regularly.
Results Matter
Results matter. It’s a simple, but elegant fact that we all have to appreciate. After all, whether you are working out to look great in your wedding dress, to look great every day, to keep your blood pressure in check or to lose weight or for any of the myriad of other reasons there are to work out, then you’ll find your results are what make you stick to a workout program.
Honestly, four years ago when I really kick started myself back into a regular workout; one of the things I noticed was my energy level. The first week, I was tired all the time – physically. Mentally, however, I seemed to be getting sharper and sharper. By week 2, that physical tired was waning. I actually had more energy during the day and into the evening than I did previously.
By week 3, you couldn’t pay me to miss my workout. I enjoyed how I felt after that hour a day on the treadmill. I still feel it, now. Recently due to surgery for my mouth, I had to stop working out all together – especially during the recovery period, but now that I’m getting back to it, wow – the difference in perspective and feeling great.
The Best Plan
One of the best plans to get something done and to enjoy your fitness is to actually do it. You have to push past the first couple of weeks and then you’ll be reaping the rewards and the benefits of exercising. You have to remind yourself of this with every ache and pain you feel – and honestly, when you’re sore before a workout – the best thing for you is the workout. Soreness will pass. If it is genuine pain, then step the workout down some, make sure you stretch properly and give yourself another 24 hours to recover before doing the workout.
Pain is a good barometer for whether you should be working out or not. Soreness will pass; pain is to be treated well. Do you know other ways you can help yourself enjoy your workout?
