Was your wedding absolutely perfect? Or do you ever think, now that you’re older and wiser, that there might be some things you’d do differently if you had it to do all over again? I’d do a couple of things differently.
The Date
When it came to picking a date, I really didn’t put much thought into it. I know at one point I’d thought maybe May 15 might be a good date, because that was the first day we met.
However, we ended up rushing matters thanks to Wayne’s aunt. (Who I adore, make no mistake.) If it wasn’t for Peach, we might not have got off our booties and picked any date. We’d already been engaged over a year and had no plans in place for any kind of wedding.
So we picked the first day we could get both a reception area and a church. However, as I mentioned in another article, two numbers hold particular significance to us. If I had it to do all over again, today would be our wedding anniversary.
The Place
We were married in a church, and a very pretty one, but that had been a compromise to make our families happy. I had always envisioned an outdoor wedding. I would definitely stick to my guns about that if I had it to do all over again. We’d have had a nice, intimate beach wedding.
One Addition to the Wedding Party
If I had it to do all over again, Budly would have been a part of the wedding ceremony. Wayne’s cousin Tommy, who was about eight at the time, was our ring bearer, but looking back he could have handled Budly and they could have shared the responsibility together.
I was too chicken to try that back then. But when our friends Karen and Michael got married, Tucker was their ring bearer and he did a fantastic job. After seeing a pup in action, I’m wishing we’d have made ours a part of our day too.
