I’m going to take a bit of a challenge today and write about…If I wasn’t a Military Spouse. The idea came from Spouse Buzz, this should add a bit of fun to all those out there and I’d love to see your list.
If I wasn’t a Military Spouse…. I never would’ve been married with four children. Okay, technically I’m married with three children and one on the way. But honestly if we weren’t military I don’t think we would’ve allowed anything past one…maybe two at the most.
If I wasn’t a Military Spouse…I never would’ve moved as much as I have. Unlike most people I actually haven’t moved that much. We went from living in Camp Pendleton, Ca to Yuma, AZ to Camp Lejeune, NC which is where I currently reside. Most military families have moved five times by now and maybe been on the other side of the water. Closest I’ve come to leaving the United States was going knee deep in the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans.
If I wasn’t a Military Spouse…I never would’ve called the cops when I had an intruder trying to break into my house from the floor boards. Confused yet? It was my first night after my husband got deployed to Japan, I had just moved to Oklahoma (I grew up in the deserts of California) and I heard someone hammering through the bottom of my house. I swore someone was trying to come in from under the house. Yep, called 9-1-1 just to get laughed at when the cops arrived and figured out my intruder wasn’t a human but an animal. I had a big ole armadillo.
If I wasn’t a Military Spouse…I probably wouldn’t be able to stay home and raise them. I must admit that being a military spouse means I do have the luxury of deciding whether or not I want to work, and currently I’m content at staying home. Don’t think I don’t work though, besides raising these three when they are home I’m also a writer, which means I’m always trying to find work I can do from home. But for those of you that want a job, here is a great site that’s all about military wives getting jobs. Job Hunting For Military Spouses
If I wasn’t a Military Spouse…I wouldn’t be the person I am. As I’ve stated in the beginning I have always been military and the truth is 2007 is actually pretty scary for me as we will be finding out whether or not we are staying in. I’ve never been outside the military so being a military spouse just clicked… it was a role meant for me…something I was destined to become and I love it. Yes, I deal with deployments and going away for a month or two at a time to go to school, but it’s something that grows on you. I’ve learned the value of family and how much it really means, especially during the hard time. Being in the military has also taught me exactly what freedom really is and the cost behind it. I’m proud to be a military spouse and hope that I get to stay one for many more years to come.
It’s your turn…If you weren’t a military spouse…
