Is it just me or do you have to make a mess to get things organized? Since Hailey moved out a week ago I’ve been rethinking the use of my house.
When I bought this house almost four years ago I had big plans. Although it was a big house for just the two of us, I was an optimist, I believed that soon I would get married again and this house would be big enough for everyone. Now it’s just Clementine and I and I need to figure out what to do with all this house!
Due to the down turn in the real estate market selling it isn’t feasible, it will take quite a while before I am no longer upside down, and I love my house. So I must reorganize!
I’ve been remodeling the master bedroom for a year now, I’ve ripped up the carpet and torn out the closets. I’m trying to get up the nerve to frame in a new closet so I can finish it. In the meantime I’m living in the smallest bedroom. My crafts were in the other large bedroom upstairs and Hailey had the basement, which was really two rooms and a bathroom.
So I’m playing musical chairs with the rooms. First I cleaned the basement, trust me this took a full day, Hailey is not known for her housekeeping skills. Possibly the most wonderful thing about my basement is that there is a jetted tub in the bathroom, I’m looking forward to using it.
Anyway, the basement needs remodeling but it is last on the list, in the meantime I will have two whole rooms for my crafts. One of those rooms has a bar in it that is the perfect height for crafts, no more bending over low tables, I prefer to stand when I craft. There are also cabinets built into the walls to hold alcohol, they will do nicely for fabric storage.
When I’m finished I will share all of my organizing ideas, but first I have to get the crafts out of the family room and down to the basement. This is the mess I was talking about earlier, now the contents of one room are strewn over three rooms until I get them organized.
