I’m not Buying it

Is there anything we won’t buy our kids for Christmas? There are some things I refuse to buy, and you can probably guess the main one since so much craziness has occurred to keep this item in the news.

Play Station 3

You guessed it. I won’t be purchasing a Playstation3 now or anytime soon. The PS3 is going to be a very cool game. It’s been in the works for some time, and the release date has been pushed back often. I was writing about it around this time last year, selling articles and then updated articles, to let people know if they could expect to have one under the tree last Christmas.

Well, this year it’s out, with its whopping price tag, and it’s not just gamers that are going crazy. Parents and others have lined up in wait trying to make sure they get a much coveted PS3 before supplies run out. Tell you what, if you can’t get one at Wal-Mart, or if John Edwards bought their last one even though he regularly condemns Wal-Mart, try EBay. Last I heard you could snap up a PS3 for around 2K. Somebody might want to email Mr. Edwards and let him know.

Excerpt from the Wal-Mart press release:

“The Company noted the PlayStation3 is an extremely popular item this Christmas season, and while the rest of America’s working families are waiting patiently in line, Senator Edwards wants to cut to the front. While, we cannot guarantee that Sen. Edwards will be among one of the first to obtain a PlayStation3, we are certain Sen. Edwards will be able to find great gifts for everyone on his Christmas list – many at Wal-Mart’s ‘roll-back prices.’”

Something else I’m not buying are all the attacks against retail giant Wal-Mart. It’s ridiculous that anyone thinks they should have to unionize against their wishes, pay employees more, or offer more benefits than other companies do. It’s not up to the government to control wages, prices, or profits. Last time I checked, this was still a free country.
