As scrapbookers, we all know the importance of journaling on each of our layouts. I have noticed a lack of journaling on many of the layouts I have seen in magazines and online. Why is it that journaling is not taken more seriously by many people? Is it the extra time it takes to add the text to our scrapbooks, or that we just don’t feel like capable writers?
There is help out there for scrapbookers looking to improve their journaling on their layouts. There are two writing classes offered at Writers Online Workshops that are targeted at scrapbookers. The instructor for these classes is Angie Pederson, a well-known scrapbook artist, author of three books and teacher of scrapbooking workshops and classes.
Each of the classes is four weeks long and costs $79.00. Each class includes reading and writing assignments in addition to online lectures. The classes are divided into weekly sessions where you will study about a specific set of objectives.
The Essentials of Scrapbook Journaling class requires the textbook Scrapbook Journaling Made Simple, by the editors of Memory Makers.
The Getting started (Quickly) in Scrapbook Journaling class requires the textbook One Minute Journaling, by Joanna Campbell Slan.
At the end of each week of class, you submit your work to the instructor for her review. This is such a great opportunity to get feedback from a well-respected writer. You can also submit your work during the week so that others in your class can give you feedback.
You can check out the outline for each week of lessons for each class on the Writer Online Workshop website.
These classes look like Angie has really thought through the curriculum and she is ready to provide her students with opportunities for growth.
This is almost like going back to school, only better. You don’t have the pressure of making a high grade; you can just enjoy your personal growth in an area that really interests you.
