Valentine’s Day is less than 24 hours away… do you know what you are getting your sweetheart?
In my book, nothing says love like a big box of chocolates. But, if you want to really impress your Valentine’s then you may want to kick it up a notch and take a hint from some of Hollywood’s biggest names that tend to think out of the box (or at least their personal shoppers do) when it comes to finding the perfect gift for their chocoholic lovers.
In Tinseltown chocolate telegrams are all the rage. The sweet candy-grams are perfect for the people who like to see their name in print. Here’s how it works: You simply compose a message, spelled with individual chocolate squares that resemble Scrabble game pieces to give to your sweetie (ABChocolates offers the service over the Internet). Basically, the sky’s the limit—if you can type it, you can write it in chocolate. From there, your tasty message is sent in a wooden box with a vintage-style “Chocolate Dispatch” label—a takeoff of the old Western Union telegrams.
Once the chocolates are delivered you can seal the deal with an old-fashioned kiss.
That’s exactly what more than 6,000 couples did simultaneously at midnight Saturday in the Philippines… and in doing so they set a new world record.
According to news reports, organizers of the pre-Valentine’s Day kiss-off said they broke the record held by Hungary, where 5,875 couples kissed simultaneously in Budapest in 2005.
Technically, the massive lip lock has not been verified by an independent auditor and approved by Guinness World Record officials as a world record, but that makes little difference to the 6,124 couples that kissed and hugged for 10 seconds outside of a Manila mall. The participants told local reporters they were just happy to join in the celebration.
The event was capped off with fireworks, confetti, and thousands of red balloons… and some reports say that the kissing went on long after the ceremony ended.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
