Did you ever think about the concept of the indoor air quality in schools? As a parent, student, or employee, think about how many hours per day is spent inside, in a classroom. At least 8 hours a day and unless the temperature is warm enough, the windows are never opened.
Germs are spread around the entire school, back and forth to students and teachers, never being able to escape the building.
Not a pretty picture when you think about.
Good news, NEA HIN has developed a program and kit to help indoor air quality in schools. The solutions don’t have to cost a lot of money or even any money. Simple things like not allowing smoking of cigarettes around school grounds or uncovering a blocked air vent are inexpensive solutions. The opening of windows when the weather allows, ridding the classroom of lingering germs, is another non-costly way to help the air quality.
Although there are many efforts being made to make the air quality pure, what do you think would be a helpful solution to this problem?
The National Education Association has been updating plans and guides and offers teachers funding to attend the annual IAQ Tools for Schools National Symposium.
NEA’s goal is make all employees aware of how to increase the air quality in their school as well as teach their students the importance of IAQ.
