The best time to take a genealogy class, course, workshop, or webinar is when they are free. First, you must find out when the event will take place, and that information isn’t always easy to find. You also are going to need a genealogy class that is located near you, or that is being done online. Here are some that will be happening soon.
On September 24, 2012, the Shrewsbury Public Library, which is located in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, will have the monthly meeting of the Shrewsbury Genealogy Club. The meeting is free to attend, and is open to anyone who is interested in genealogy and family history. You do not have to be a Shrewsbury resident in order to attend.
On September 25, 2012, the Logan County Genealogy Society, which is located in Logan County, Colorado, will have their first meeting for the new year. Anyone who is interested in Genealogy, but feels intimidated about organizing their stacks of papers, should attend. The meeting will begin at 7:00 in the evening, and is free.
On September 25, 2012, Ancestry.com LIVE will have a live webinar that will start at 1:00 in the afternoon and will end at 2:00 in the afternoon EDT. The webinar is called “Family Tree Maker – Reports”. You need to RSVP to attend this webinar.
On September 27, 2012, Ancestry.com LIVE will have a live webinar called “Family Tree Maker – Places”. It will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon and will end at 2:00 in the afternoon, EDT. You must RSVP if you want to attend this webinar.
On September 29, 2012, the River Grove Public Library, which is located in River Grove, Illinois, will have a free genealogy class. It is called “Getting Started with Genealogy” and it will be presented by Grace DuMelle, (the author of “Finding Your Chicago Ancestors”.) The event is free, and registration is required.
On September 29, 2012, the Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum, which is located in Goessel, Kansas, will have a genealogy workshop called “Chasing Your Tale: A Family History and Genealogy Workshop”. It will begin at 10:00 in the morning and end at 1:30 in the afternoon.
The workshop will be presented by Katie Funk Wiebe and Sara Orr Jones. The workshop cost $10.00 per person (and that includes a light lunch, a composition book, and materials). Those who wish to attend need to register before September 25, 2012.
