Today I was visiting the church’s website looking for something new to write about. I stumbled upon the Encyclopedia of Mormonism, which is available online. This is a very interesting find. It covers many aspects of Mormonism, with self-reflective look at the culture and beliefs of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of the best things about this book is that most of the authors are LDS and so you can learn from them what they really believe.
Although the Encyclopedia is no longer available, you can access it online. It is still being update occasionally. So you may find new information. This is a great resource if you are doing a research paper on the church, just want to learn more or if you are preparing a talk. It is also interesting to just browse the book.
If you are looking for more specific information on gospel principles you may want to look at the True to Faith and Gospel Principles manuals. The True to Faith book looks at specific issues and principles that many people have in regards to church doctrine. The Gospel Principles manual is the manual used to teach new members of the church more about the doctrine and beliefs of the church.
If you want to learn more about the church’s beliefs and practices you can visit www.mormon.org. This site is designed for investigators. It answers basic questions and addresses common misconceptions about the church.
If you want to learn more about Joseph Smith, since we are studying his teachings this year in Priesthood and Relief Society, you may want to visit www.josephsmith.net. This site covers many aspects of Joseph Smith’s life in great detail, and provides additional resources. One nice feature is that you can view photographs of the church historic sites that honor Joseph Smith.
