Are you inspired by motivational quotes? I have been known to post scripture verses or motivational words around my house. I put them in places that my family and I will see most frequently (mirror, refrigerator, my desk, dashboard in the car, etc.).
By getting these encouraging words into your heart and thought processes, it can push you to move forward. It can inspire you to not give up.
Sometimes we need a little kick in the pants to help us press on. So by filling your mind with motivational words, you may be able to get where you never thought you would be.
Let’s consider some motivational quotes you might use (post them on your treadmill, by your running shoes, in front of your television, and anywhere else that seems fitting). You know how you will benefit the most from this.
Albert Einstein once said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” How might this apply? Think about your eating habits.
Have you ever been at that place where you continue to consume unhealthy foods, yet you expect to somehow lose weight? Or you spend more hours in front of the television instead of exercising, yet you can’t figure out why you keep gaining weight?
It’s insanity I tell you…and I have been there.
Another quote I really like is from Lou Holtz, “Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
Jim Ryan has another great quote on motivation, “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” So if you want exercise or healthy eating to become a habit, you have to first get started…and that’s where motivation comes in.
If you have ever felt like a real failure in maintaining a fit lifestyle, consider Michael Jordan’s setbacks: “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
You see, success isn’t found in perfection. It is found in having the stamina to keep going, to get back up when you have been knocked down. It is having the desire to strive.
I end with what perhaps is one of the most infamous quotes of all times. It is simple but it is so clear: “Just Do It” – Nike.
