Instant Holiday Centerpieces

With just a few items that you probably already have around your home, you can create instant holiday centerpieces that are festive and guest worthy.

Grab a Bowl

Dust off a pretty bowl to create a nice centerpiece for your table. You can fill one with colorful ornaments that create an instant holiday mood. Be sure to vary the sizes of ornaments for interest but keep to the same color scheme for continuity.

Another way to create an instant centerpiece out of a bowl is to fill it with pine cones. If you live nears woods or a park like I do, this is just a matter of sending the kids out to gather a few. No pine cones? Gather whatever natural materials are at hand, from walnuts to seed pods. Intersperse the natural material with some pretty ribbon to dress the whole thing up.

Grab a Jar

You know that mason jar you rinsed out and have been saving for a while? Well now is the time to make good use of it. And if you have more than one, that is even better.

Fill your jar or jars with cranberries and add a small candle to each one. It creates an instant holiday look. Place a large jar in the center of the table, or line up smaller jars along a windowsill. Lighted, the jars will create a beautiful holiday mood.

The glass of a jar creates an immediate window that you can take advantage of. Try stuffing in a spare set of twinkle lights and setting the jar in the middle of the table. You can disguise the wire with some ribbon or other materials if you can’t find battery powered lights. An instant glow. And try this tip…place the jar upside down over the lights, so the cord has an inconspicuous exit from the jar.
