Here we go! It is time for the weekly Insurance Podcast Roundup. This is where to look in order to find new episodes of podcasts that are talking about insurance related issues. Recently, insurance seems to have become very connected to politics.
NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on February 24, 2012. This episode is called “N.H. GOP Moves To Revise State’s Contraception Law”. There is a law in New Hampshire that has been in existence for twelve years. The law requires contraceptive coverage under insurer’s prescription drug policies. No one has complained about this law in the twelve years that it has existed. Suddenly, the state’s GOP leaders want to repeal this law.
CNN has an episode of Sanjay Gupta MD that was released on February 24, 2012. This episode is called “Medicare covers yoga for heart disease”.
This is based on a program created by Dean Ornish. It teaches preventative medicine including: stress management through yoga and meditation, regular exercise, a vegetarian diet, and the importance of sharing feelings and making connections in discussion groups. Medicare now pays for twelve weeks of the Ornish program.
NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on February 21, 2012. This episode is called “Even When Employed, Health Care A Challenge”. This episode is part of an ongoing series. It features stories from Americans who have jobs, but who are still unable to find affordable health insurance.
KSKA News has an episode that was released on February 10, 2012. This episode is simply called “Alaska News Nightly: February 10, 2012”. One of the topics discussed in this episode includes details regarding the Affordable Care Act. Alaska is one of several states that is suing to overturn the ACA. Alaska is not at all close to being able to establish a health insurance exchange.
1230 WHCO has an episode of “People Speak” that was released on February 22, 2012. This episode is called “Mark Terry, Illinois Department of Insurance”. In this episode, Mark Terry, from the Illinois Department of Insurance, talks about disaster coverage and long-term care insurance.
Top Story Podcast released an episode on February 21, 2012. This episode is called “The Idaho Legislature and Contraception, Sportsmen’s Banquet, Idaho Fish and Game Legislation”. In the first hour of this podcast, the episode covers news about the discussion that the Idaho Legislation is having about exempting all businesses and insurance companies from covering certain types of contraception. Not all of the legislators are in favor of that idea.
