Host Michel Martin speaks with Laurie Goodstein of the New York Times. They discuss the Obama administration’s decision that religious institutions have to have health plans that cover contraception. U.S. Catholic Bishops are intending to fight this rule.

NPR has been doing a weekly podcast roundup called “It’s All Politics”. They released a new episode on February 2, 2012. This couldn’t possibly be about anything other than the controversial issue about health insurance coverage for birth control.

NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on February 3, 2012.
This episode was called “Komen’s Race To Reverse Course: Questions and a PR Challenge”.

This episode describes what happened when the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation chose to cut its funding for cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood. It also discusses the effect that choice had on public relations for the Komen foundation. Although this topic is not, directly, insurance related, it does play into health insurance because women who lack health insurance coverage were the ones who were relying on cancer screenings from Planned Parenthood.

NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on February 6, 2012. This episode “Komen Foundation Struggles to Lure Back Donors”. The episode discusses the difficulty that the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is having with disillusioned donors who watched the foundation pull its funding from Planned Parenthood, and then restore it.
