Insurance Podcast Roundup – Week of March 5, 2012

microphone It is time for the Insurance Podcast Roundup once again. Listening to a podcast that talks about the potential changes that could happen to your insurance policies is a great way to stay informed. Lately, it has become a way to keep up with politics, too.

NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on March 1, 2012. This episode is called “Majorities In Senate and Public Support Birth Control Coverage”. The episode discusses the ramifications of the Blunt Amendment, (if it had been passed). It also shares information from a Kaiser Family Foundation poll that shows that the majority of Americans are in favor of birth control coverage in health insurance plans.

NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on February 27, 2012. This episode is called “Elderly Drivers Take a Toll On American Roads”. The episode goes over information that says that drivers who are elderly are much more likely to be involved in a car accident than are younger drivers. It explains some of the reasons why that is happening. Obviously, a car accident, no matter how small, has an effect on the cost of car insurance.

NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on February 28, 2012. This episode is called “Feds Accuse Texas Doctor In $350 Million Medicare Fraud”. A doctor in Texas, and six co-conspirators, have been indited for a home health care scheme that resulted in at least $350 million in fraudulent Medicare bills, and $24 million in fraudulent Medicaid.

Top Story Podcast released an episode on March 5, 2012. This one has the incredibly long title of: “Rush’s apology and the hypocrisy of the “left”, Idaho Legislative Update, breast milk and the TSA, CSI Astronomy with Chris Anderson”.

One of the topics they discuss in this episode is about Rush Limbaugh. Specifically, this episode covers the controversial comments made by Rush Limbaugh regarding birth control coverage, and his opinion of the woman who spoke out about it before a Democratic committee on health care. The hosts of this podcast do not hide their opinions. The hosts note that Rush Limbaugh has apologized for those comments, and they read what his apology consisted of.

NAPH, which stands for National Association of Public Hospitals, released a podcast on February 28, 2012. This episode is called “This Week in Washington”. The episode focuses on discussion regarding the a ruling made by the Supreme Court on the California Medicaid case.
