Insurance to Cover Problems With Pumpkins

pumpkin Pumpkins are the quintessential decoration for Halloween. Their popularity at this time of year can lead to all sorts of problems, and even some crimes. Fortunately, certain types of insurance policies can help you recover pumpkin related losses.

Halloween is in October. People across the United States have started decorating their porches with pumpkins that have been carved in a variety of scary, spooky, and creepy designs. Put a lit candle inside each pumpkin, and you have a holiday appropriate lighting system that can prevent little trick-or-treaters from tripping on the stairs as they rush to your door.

What if a trick-or-treater, hopped up on sugary candy, and overcome with the excitement of Halloween does manage to become injured while visiting your house? The parents of the little princess, devil, or monster can file a claim to your homeowners insurance policy. This type of insurance will pay for the medical attention that the child needs. It also will help you with court costs if the parents decide to sue you.

This is the time of year when people, (often teenagers), think it is amusing to steal carved pumpkins from the porches they are haunting, and smash them all over the street. There is a possibility that your homeowners insurance could provide you with some funds to cover that loss. It typically covers theft and property damage.

A woman in Iowa has been injured when a pumpkin crashed through her windshield while she was driving. Someone decided to use the pumpkin as a weapon, and drop it off an overpass. This woman could send a claim to her auto insurance company for the damage that was done to her car.

There is a possibility that her car insurance policy will cover the cost of the medical care she requires due to this accident. If not, then she could potentially send a claim to her health insurance company, and see if they can help her. Clearly, this accident was not due to any fault of her own!

In some places, there has been a shortage of pumpkins. Farmers have had their pumpkin crops destroyed due to flooding from tropical storms or form heat waves, (depending on where the farm was located).

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), sells crop insurance policies to farmers. Those policies can help provide a farmer with funding to offset the financial loss he would face due to failed pumpkin crops.
