Intentional about Helping Others Succeed

Today is the conclusion to my “Intentional about” series I have been doing here in home business. I end with a secret to success…being intentional about helping others to succeed.

I realize that for many people it’s a “dog eat dog” world out there. But I come from a different mindset. I believe that those most likely to succeed are those who help others to.

Take the job of a writer. In today’s social media world, you have an opportunity to help others in their success. One of the things you are encouraged to do—which does provide a kickback to you—is to subscribe to other people’s blogs, newsletters and so on. But then you are also encouraged to comment on what they write.

Now I will admit that the idea behind this is to get your name out there, with the hope that someone will like what you have said and click on a link to your blog or website. But at the same time, you really are helping someone else to succeed.

It is encouraging to every writer to receive a comment, a response to something you have posted. I know I enjoy it. So if you enjoy it, allow someone else the opportunity to experience it.

Several months ago I put aside a lot of my own personal time to help one of the associate pastors at
my church with a devotional he had written. He was self-publishing it but needed someone to edit the book.

I was already busy with my own thing but I took the time to help him succeed. I believe this always comes back to you. When you need someone, you are more likely to find help if you have been a helper.

So this year I have really been trying to do better at helping others. I try to be an encourager and a motivator. I try to bring attention to their work. I want to be intentional about helping others succeed.
