Intentional about Learning More

The year 2012 I plan on being intentional about learning more. I always admire adults who go back to school or otherwise continue their learning. I was in my late 30’s when I took some online courses, some related to childcare and others were general (such as economics). It felt so good to be learning even later in life.

This past summer I had an opportunity to learn more about my field of writing by attending a writing conference in another state. It served as a way to sharpen my skills.

Learning more about your field will help grow both you and your business. You gain a better understanding of how to make your business work efficiently. You use your mind to focus on the important stuff, increasing your knowledge.

As time goes on, advancements and changes happen in nearly every field. Or there may be skills that you simply need to brush up on. Take the time to do this.

It’s not just classes or courses that help you learn more. Books, seminars, DVDs, websites and other professionals can also be a great resource.

If you can be mentored by someone in your field, that is a great way to expand your learning. Find someone who has been successful in your line of work. Ask if you can spend time with them, watching how they go about their business. Ask for tips or advice.

Embrace the opportunity to learn more about your home business in 2012. Make it your goal to learn 10 new things this year. As you complete each one, keep it handy so that you can remind yourself of your accomplishments.

You might even create your own certificate and hang it up. Find a visual way to demonstrate that you have increased your knowledge. Not only does it boost your confidence but it gives you the drive to keep moving forward.
