Home. There are so many things packed into that small word. Family, warmth, security, frustration, pride, bills, hope, work, creativity, love and a place to hang your hat. The home is the heart of a family, no matter whether it is a one room apartment or a 100,000 square foot castle. There are so many images, so many memories associates with the home, and that is why I am excited, awed and humbled by the opportunity to be one of the bloggers here on the Home Blog at Families.com. Sherry has been bring us some amazing articles, and I’ll be looking to her to help me along as I begin my adventure here.

I am obsessed with home improvement shows, flipping shows and organizational shows on TV. I can tell you what a “drama” wall is or how important it is not to leave exposed tack strips on the floor. And my husband, well he is a pretty smart home improvement guy.

Recently, back in the spring, we purchased a home in a quite neighborhood. It is a great house, but it is one that needs a little TLC and a lot of updating. The home sits on two acres of mostly overgrown woods, with a babbling brook in the back.
We have so many plans and improvements for our home, from the mundane, such as exploring the options in water treatment systems to fun, such as building fairy houses in the backyard.
I hope that you will come along with me as our house transforms to our home. As we paint, decorate, build, design, fumble and tear our hair out. I hope you will be there when I need make a decision about the benefits of a geothermal system, or when I just need to sit back with a cup of hot cocoa and a warm blanket.
