My daughter would get so excited every time we sat down to eat breakfast. I never imagined that my daughter would actually be eating eggs at seven months but when she started grabbing my fork and sucking the egg yolk off the tines, I figured it was time. Egg yolks are the perfect little golden nugget of nutrients and are very easy for babies to eat (egg yolk practically melts in the mouth). A few tastes of egg yolk turned into a quarter of an egg yolk, which turned into half and egg yolk, which turned into a whole egg yolk. She loves egg yolks! I am so thankful that we can get really high quality pasture raised chemical free eggs from a local farmer; it makes me feel so much better about her eating eggs so soon. I truly believe that breakfast is now my daughter’s favorite meal of the day too!
As I try to ease my daughter into new foods and new flavors, I have discovered that my daughter has other plans. One evening in particular I had made a mushroom soup made from homemade beef broth, some dairy, lots of spice, a few carrot pieces, and some sweet peas. My intention was to pull out some of the carrots and peas for her to eat with the outer skin of both removed. She was quite satisfied with the carrots and peas until she got a taste of the creamy mushroom broth. She was no longer satisfied with carrots and peas; she had to have the creamy broth. My husband gave her a few conservative tastes and her reaction was crazy excited! She would try to grab both the bowl and the spoon while making excited screeches and leaning towards the table. This went on for a good fifteen minutes which was long enough for me to take a short video!
