Is Hiring Household Help REALLY Out of the Question?

Earlier this morning, I wrote about how hiring temporary yard care help for the summer can be a good and efficient move for a single parent. Often, we single parents are on a tight budget and are reluctant to pay anything for extra help. It might be, however, that finding money in the budget to pay for a little household help can be money well spent and make our lives easier, and our families more peaceful.

When most of us think of having a housekeeper, we think of someone like Alice from the Brady Bunch and assume it will be daily, constant and expensive. It does not have to be like that, however, and we can hire someone to come in once a week or twice a month or coordinate it to fit with our needs and our budget. There are also housekeepers who can be hired to do certain tasks (laundry or general cleaning) and not others. You may find that having your house thoroughly cleaned twice a month is well worth the added expense and then you and your family can do the general clean-up and daily chores in between. Instead of spending every weekend doing the deep cleaning, hiring a little help once in a while can free up time to spend together as a family.

Of course, having someone come in and help out with the household chores is NOT for everyone. Some of us find that cleaning is something we do to relax or is an activity we do together as a family periodically. I think the important thing is to look at things objectively and realize that just because you are a single parent does not mean that you do not have options. You may be surprised at how creative and personal your cleaning solutions can be and if you are interested in hiring a little household help, you can probably find just what you are looking for at a price that fits your budget.
