Is Your Yard Ready for Christmas?

Wow! Have you seen all the great outdoor decorations available for Christmas? I like the lighted giant snow globes with faux snow flying around. They are adorable. I also like the inflatable outdoor Christmas decorations such as giant snowmen and Santa figures. The best part is many of them cost less than most people might imagine.

There are all kinds of displays to choose from, such as fiber optic reindeer and angels and Christmas trees. My favorite is the fiber optic Nativity Scene. The soft glow of fiber optic lighting looks beautiful against the night sky.

There are other figures for the yard as well. Some are made of plastic and are interior lit. Usually, they are brightly colored, which means they will make a great impact. I still like icicle lights too, even if they aren’t as popular as they once were, and those “nets” of lights that easily slip over the bare branches of any tree. Have you seen them? They look really cool, although I’m getting a little bored with them, since every bank and business for miles around seems to have the same ones.

A simply way to add some charm to your outdoor décor is to simply add some Christmas lights to trees, bushes, or add strings to the exterior of your home. Make sure they are intended for outdoor use. Don’t just hang them, make interesting designs or outline doors and windows.

Another idea is to make a giant Christmas card for your yard. Cut down a piece of plywood or MDF (medium density fiberboard) into two equal pieces, paint, and decorate. Add hinges and stand in place like an open Christmas card. Add any message you like, and string lights around the edges, or up-light it, so the card can also be read at night.
