It’s a Gas—Hotels Helping You Save This Summer

“Gas Tank Getaways,” “Tanks-A-Lot,” “Gas Savers.” They have a variety of cute and clever names, but their goal is the same: save travelers some green as they navigate under blue skies this summer season. From California to Maine, practically every inn, hotel, motel and mansion is running a promotion to offset the record high gas prices that are sweeping the nation.

For the past few months I have been tracking these super summer travel deals and today I have more to offer you road warriors before you hit the highway on your family vacation.

Take a look:

GEORGIA

“Tanks for Staying With Us,” that’s the name of the gas saving travel package Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is offering guests through September 30, 2008. The 102-room resort is located just two hours from Atlanta and rooms there are listed at just $119 per night, but you’ll save $50 with the gas promotion that provides a credit off your total bill. The catch: the offer is not good on Friday and Saturday stays.

FLORIDA

The Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach (located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami) is currently offering a Summer Savings Package where you stay two nights and get a $25 gas card; stay three nights and you will receive a $50 card. You can redeem the cards at gas stations throughout Florida. For $150 per room per night you will also get complimentary breakfast daily, a $15 in-room movie credit, and two drink coupons daily.

Meanwhile, in Tampa, the new InterContinental Tampa is offering guests a $40 gas rebate on a two-night weekend stay. (The $40 will be subtracted from your final bill.) Rooms at the hotel start at $149 per night and the offer is good through September 2, 2008.

SOUTH CAROLINA

The Marina Inn in Myrtle Beach has a “Summer Vacation Fuel Rebate” going on now through the end of August. As part of the deal the lodging is giving you 10 cents back for every mile you drive to and from the property, up to 1,600 miles. Hotel staff will use Mapquest to calculate the mileage of your trip. You can get up to a $160 credit, which will be deducted from your final hotel bill. Rooms at the inn start at $189 per night.
