Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Wow! Christmas Eve sure arrived fast. I hope everyone is ready. I’m almost there and I’m hoping I haven’t forgotten anything that will land me in a store today. It has been my goal to avoid shopping on Christmas Eve.
Are your kids brimming with excitement? I think I am just as filled with anticipation as my children are. I can’t wait to see their faces when they open their gifts tomorrow morning, and I’m sure it will be early in the morning! I think I’ve got everything ready to go, so I should be able to turn in at a decent hour.
We’re having our Christmas dinner today, which has become a bit of a tradition. My husband’s employer gave us a beautiful ham, which he has done for the past several years. We have a country Christmas dinner, which usually consists of ham cooked on the grill, scalloped potatoes made from scratch, fried squash or okra, yeast rolls, corn on the cob, and peach cobbler.
Tomorrow, we’ll have brunch after the gifts are open. We usually have some of the leftovers along with eggs or quiche, biscuits, fruit, muffins, and juice. We’ll blow out a candle for Jesus’ birthday before we eat. The rest of the day, we spend relaxing and enjoying each other’s company, assembling toys, and checking out our new gifts.
Tonight, we will bake cookies for Santa, and my youngest usually leaves him a note. We each open one gift before the little ones go off to bed. Then Dad and I will handle the finishing touches and try to get some sleep too.
I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and I also sincerely wish families who celebrate other holidays a lovely holiday season filled with much happiness.
