It’s Here ….Tonight is Christmas Eve

We’ve been counting down the days for weeks now as we approach the Christmas holidays and whether you celebrate it for religious reasons or secular ones, it’s here. Tonight is Christmas Eve. Most of are not going to be working out today or working out tomorrow. Don’t worry about it, it’s the holidays and whether you are traveling or spending them at home – the holidays are a time of rest, a time of celebrating and a time of spending with our families.

It’s Okay to Skip the Workout

It’s okay to miss your workout today. It’s okay to miss it tomorrow. Don’t even let the thoughts trouble you, because Tuesday will be here soon enough and we’ll all fall back into our regularly scheduled programming. For a few, there will be a holiday all week. I know plenty of people who take off the week between Christmas and the New Year.

This year, I won’t be one of them. I get tomorrow off and that’s it. I’ve got too much on my plate. So I can take today and tomorrow off from my workout to give myself a few extra hours in my day to take care of other things. Tuesday morning, I’ll be right on that treadmill again with more than a few feelings of sluggishness and having overindulged.

And that’s okay too. It’s the holidays and we should eat, drink and be merry. We should toast those who cannot be with us whether they are miles away or passed away. So spend the time with your family. Spend the time with each other. Remember, our family and social connections are just as important to our fitness as a good solid walk on the treadmill. So, enjoy your fruitcake, enjoy your turkeys, enjoy your Christmas celebrations and feasts. Enjoy your husband, your wife, your parents, your children, you friends and your family and remember – the treadmill is waiting and it will be there on Tuesday.

Have a very Merry Christmas.
