You mean to tell me there are other things going on in the world of entertainment besides the Tom and Katie nuptials? Believe or not… yes. Now that Mr. and Mrs. TomKat have exchanged vows and are en route to the Maldives to enjoy their honeymoon one would think that we would have nothing to talk about here in the POP CULTURE blog.
Not a chance. The wonderful world of celebrity keeps spinning and cranking out newsworthy events, despite much of the world’s paparazzi huddling en masse for a shot of the Cruise’s a half a world away from Hollywood.
No, no, the show must goes on… and it does… beginning with some unfortunate news for a young Hollywood couple.
PEOPLE magazine is reporting that rocker Chris Robinson has filed for divorce from his estranged wife, actress Kate Hudson citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has been separated since August amid rumors that Hudson was romantically involved with her “You, Me and Dupree” costar Owen Wilson. Robinson, the frontman for the Black Crowes and Hudson have been married for six years and have a soon to be 3-year-old son, Ryder.
By now we all know that football great Emmitt Smith walked away from “Dancing with the Stars” with the blinged out disco ball trophy (yes, I know that many people felt Mario was robbed). Now it’s time to move on and concentrate on who will be busting a move on the next season of the popular primetime show.
We’ve seen actors, athletes, and even some infamous talk show hosts (Jerry Springer) waltz their way into our hearts. But, until now we’ve never seen a member of the royal family kick up their heels on the program. Enter, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who went public a few days ago expressing her hope that show producers will make room for a royal.
“I’d quite like to go on ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” Ferguson told TV’s “Inside Edition.” “I’d like them to teach me the tango.”
Ferguson and Britain’s Prince Andrew divorced in 1996. Personally, I’d like to see them go head-to-head on the show. Now that would be “must-see-TV.”
