When I find something that I think is an amazing way to teach a child I cannot keep it all to myself. I am bursting at the seams to tell you about a website called IXL. I thought I knew what to expect from IXL Math since I have used several online math programs in the past. What drew me in was the colorful and whimsical design of the site. What else would draw a jaded homeschooling mom into a site she was sure was just like the others? Well, you guessed it, this site is not like the others. IXL is a site I want to recommend to every homeschool regardless of method or curriculum. IXL can be used to supplement any curriculum or to help your child master an area of concern. If you are interested in state standards you can simply click on your state and get all the information you need.

My daughter is in 1st grade and loves math. IXL is part of the reason she loves it so much. She enjoys working on the computer, however, that is not enough for her to ask to do math daily with IXL. She asks to do it daily because she loves the program. The program works well for any learning style which makes it a true asset. It is not set up like a game or entertainment yet my daughter has favorite concepts she asks to do even after she has mastered them. The feedback the program gives to the child aids in the mastering the concept. You will always be kept up to date on your child’s progress. IXL is enjoyable without using silly games to entertain the child into understanding a concept. The foundation is solid and the approach is straightforward and challenging. If your child is studying preschool math or algebra you have found the right place to cultivate learning and true math mastery with IXL.
