Jack Nicholson Turns 75

There’s nothing like a celebrity’s milestone birthday to make you feel old. Take Jack Nicholson for example. I read that Jack Nicholson turned 75-years-old yesterday. What? That just can’t be! Seventy-five is the age of grandparents – my grandparents – so there’s no way Nicholson can be that old.

Then, I realize that my grandparents – all of whom were older than 75 – actually died 20-plus years ago and I am now the age that I think Nicholson should be. Nicholson was but a babe of thirty-two when he appeared in Easy Rider. He was thirty-eight when he won his first Oscar – for his appearance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. By the time he won his second Oscar – for As Good As It Gets – Nicholson was sixty.

Times really flies when you are having fun, but it seems to go much quicker when you aren’t paying attention at all. Here are a few more celebrities whose ages you might not believe:

Mick Jagger turns 69 this year. The combined age of the Rolling Stones is 270.

Roger Daltry also turned 68 this year. Pete Townshend, who wrote the lyrics “Hope I die before I get old,” turns 67 this year.

Clint Eastwood will be 82 this year.

Sophia Loren turns 78 this year – and still looks incredible.

Raquel Welch, another bombshell that still looks magnificent, turns 72 this year.

Cloris Leachman turned 85 this year, Mary Tyler Moore turns 76, and Valerie Harper will be 73. Dick Van Dyke turns 87.

Harper Lee, author of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” turns 86 in five days.

What about the cool people I remember from high school?

Eddie Van Halen turned 57 this year.

Jodie Foster, that cute little 13-year-old from Taxi Driver will be 50 this year.

David Cassidy is 62, Donnie Osmond is 54, and Leif Garrett turns 51.

Looking up all those celebs really worry me out, so now if you will forgive me, I think I am going to take my Geritol and get to bed early.
