It’s a girl for 17-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears.
The teen sister of mega-meltdown queen Britney Spears gave birth to a baby girl just a few hours ago, according to news reports.
Reports say Spears and her fiancé Casey Aldridge have named their new addition Maddie Briann.
The baby was reportedly born in a Mississippi hospital where Britney, her father Jamie, mom Lynne and brother Bryan gathered to welcome the newest member of the family.
The Zoey 101 star has been keeping a low profile since announcing her pregnancy to the world back in December. The 17-year-old actress got engaged to her 19-year-old boyfriend in March and just last month the teens purchased a three-bedroom home in Liberty, Mississippi, where Aldridge went to high school.
The couple’s new abode reportedly includes an elaborately carved four-poster king-size canopy bed, a leather recliner, and a leather sofa – along with a “comfy nursery, with a pink, brown, and silver-green color scheme.” The five-acre Liberty property is also equipped with a barn and studio, which was formerly used as a hair salon.
No word on when the new parents will tie the knot, but Spears can cross getting her high school diploma off her to-do list. The teen passed her GED exam recently and now plans to turn her attention to being a full-time mom.
As for Jamie-Lynn’s own mom, word has it that now that Maddie Briann has joined the clan Lynne Spears will release her memoir that was put on hold shortly after her teenage daughter announced her pregnancy.
Lynne Spears’s parenting book, which chronicles the ups and downs of raising her famous daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn, will be released this fall, according to publishers.
“When Jamie Lynn got pregnant, it was put on hold,” says a spokesman for the company, which is publishing Spears’ book. “Lynne never stopped working on it because she wants to express her love for her children and tell their stories through a mother’s eyes.”
“Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World” is scheduled to be released in September.
