Jane Seymour Suffers A Major Loss

This has nothing to do with Jane Seymour’s performance on last night’s “Dancing with the Stars.” In fact, at this hour I highly doubt the award-winning actress is even thinking about the quickstep, mambo, or cha cha.

Seymour’s 92-year-old mother, Mieke Frankenberg, passed away in England on Monday due to complications from a stroke she suffered earlier this year, according to the actress’ rep.

As a result, Seymour announced she would not be appearing on tonight’s “Dancing with the Stars” live results show; rather she is en route to England to be with her family and attend funeral services.

Personally, I was stunned to hear the news of Seymour mom’s passing. I can’t imagine what the 56-year-old actress is going through right now. She has been doing exceptionally well on this season’s show and remarked on more than one occasion that the main reason she agreed to be involved with the popular dance-off is because it was her mom’s favorite show.

“The only show she would never miss, apart from Dr. Quinn, was Dancing with the Stars,” Seymour told PEOPLE Magazine a few weeks ago. “I told my mother on the phone that I was going to do this and she hadn’t spoken or even said wa wa wa or even had interest in living for quite a while. And she suddenly went, ‘wa wa wa wa wa!’”

And that’s not all, on the show’s season premiere Seymour revealed that her mom uttered her first word since having a stroke soon after the actress told her that she wanted to make her proud on the dance floor.

“And she went ‘yes!’ That’s the first word she’s spoken since the stroke,” Seymour said. “Since then she’s started drinking and eating.”

Unfortunately, Seymour’s mother will not be able to see if her daughter will walk away with the disco ball trophy. Though, I have a feeling that when Seymour returns to the show she will be channeling her mother’s spirit and shimming and shaking with a renewed vigor that could easily put her in the finals.
