I’ve always wanted to attend a taping of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” but have never had luck getting tickets. Others have been more fortunate in getting to see the daytime queen up close and personal, and recently some of them have become part of the media blitz that surrounds the popular show.
Yesterday, Oprah audience members were pressed by the press camped outside the talk show host’s legendary Harpo studios. The cause of all of the commotion: an appearance by Jennifer Aniston. Apparently, entertainment magazine publishers sent staff over to the studios to quiz people who had just watched the ex-“Friends” star tape a show with Oprah.
What reporters wanted was the answer to the ongoing question: “Is Jennifer still dating Vince Vaughn?” Audience members told PEOPLE magazine reporters that despite numerous magazine covers and articles reporting the contrary, she and Vaughn are indeed still a couple. One Oprah audience member said that Aniston also put to rest rumors that she and Vaughn were engaged. In addition, audience members told reporters, Aniston also said that she hadn’t gotten breast implants, as one tabloid recently reported explaining, “when she gains weight, it goes to her chest.”
Frankly, I was surprised to hear that Aniston and Vaughn were still a couple. Sad to say, I think I often fall victim to the lure of the tabloids. When I constantly see headlines and read articles that a Hollywood couple has called it quits (and no one denies it) then I begin to believe it is fact rather than tabloid fodder. Now that Aniston set the record straight on Oprah, I’m sure the paparazzi will be following the couple even closer.
By the way, Aniston’s visit to Oprah’s set wasn’t to put relationship rumors to rest, rather, her main purpose was to talk about her new film “Room 10,” about a nurse who gains perspective on her marital problems while caring for a dying patient.
