Jennifer Hudson is Having a Baby

Very soon.

If you knew for certain that former American Idol turned Oscar-winning actress was pregnant, then you were one of the few.

Perhaps, it’s because the media was trying to respect her privacy following the brutal slayings of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew last fall, but somehow, some way, Jennifer Hudson has managed to escape a full-blown media onslaught regarding her current pregnancy.

Yes, the 27-year-old singing sensation is going to have a baby. At least that’s what guests at her recent baby shower are saying.

Several of Hudson’s closest friends spoke to Chicago newspapers over the weekend and confirmed that the Dreamgirls’ star is in fact having a baby with her former reality TV star fiance, David Otunga.

“They’re really trying to keep it kind of quiet,” Hudson’s pals told the Chicago Tribune.

The South Side native reportedly flew into the Windy City on Friday and was the guest of honor at an intimate, yet lavish baby shower hosted by longtime friends and close family members.

As for whether Hudson had a blue or pink themed party, sources said, “They don’t know [the gender]. More yellow.”

The baby news comes just seven months after Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason and nephew Julian King were found murdered in Donerson’s Chicago home. Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with the crimes.

Coincidentally, reports speculate that Hudson is about seven months along in her pregnancy, and is expected to give birth this summer.

Nothing but best wishes to the happy couple, but not for nothing, I still wonder how Hudson was able to dodge mass pregnancy rumors when she has been on tour with singer Robin Thicke for the last two months? What’s more, Hudson hasn’t been wearing loose-fitting outfits while on stage.

I suppose having your manager and publicist insist (as recently as April 25th) that you were “definitely not pregnant” helped to quell rumors, but doing so only makes it appear as though Hudson gained weight for other reasons.

Are you surprised to learn that Jennifer Hudson is pregnant?
