Meet Jonathon Horton
Jonathon was a member of the 2006 World Championships Team. He’s the son of Al, an engineer, and Margo, a realtor. He has an older sister named Margo, who is a dance instructor. His favorite subject is math, and in his spare time he enjoys reading the Bible, playing video games and golfing. Prior to attending the University of Oklahoma, he competed for Cypress Academy in Houston under Coach Tom Meadows. In the future, Jonathon would like to open a gym, become a stuntman or work for USA Gymnastics after graduating with a business degree from Oklahoma. Jonathon cites his parents as his role models and his girlfriend Haley, is on the women’s gymnastics team at the University of Oklahoma.
Why Root for Him?
Jonathon scored a top-four all-around finish at the 2007 FIG World Championships, the first since 2004 Olympic gold medalist Paul Hamm took the title in 2003. Only Hamm, Kurt Thomas (2nd, 1979) and Arthur Alcopian (T-3rd, 1983) have finished higher than Horton. Blaine Wilson also finished fourth at the 1999 World Championships. His gymnastics goal is to compete for the United States in the Olympic Games and bring home a gold medal.
