Jon Lovitz Warns Andy Dick
You probably know of Andy Dick’s woes with drugs. Apparently, that helped to ruin his friendship with Jon Lovitz. Last week at the Hollywood comedy club The Laugh Factory, Lovitz and Dick clashed and it was anything but funny.
The two had a falling out over 10 years ago when Lovitz accused Dick of introducing mutual pal Phil Hartman’s wife to cocaine again. It was only a few months later that she killed Phil then shot herself. Lovitz said that a year ago, Dick threatened his life in a restaurant, saying, “I put the Phil Hartman hex on you. You’re the next one to die.”
Lovitz, still stinging from the remark, confronted Dick after his set last week, looking for an apology. Dick refused to apologize. I guess things went from bad to worse and eventually, the night ended with Lovitz beating up Dick. According to Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, Lovitz lost his temper and grabbed Dick’s head, smashing it into the bar several times. What were Lovitz’s thoughts on the altercation? “Everybody’s thanking me for beating him up…I think he should avoid me like the plague.” No kidding!
Funnyman Steve Martin to Wed
Steve Martin is one of the funniest men alive, but unfortunately, not the luckiest in love. He dated fellow actress Bernadette Peters from 1979 to 1982. In 1986, he married actress Victoria Tennant, but that marriage ended in divorce in 1994. Martin confessed, “Breaking up with someone you love was just as torturous for men as it was for women.” He should know – especially after his next relationship! After Tennant, the comedian dated actress Anne Heche. That went just swell for two years until she decided she was a lesbian and left him for Ellen DeGeneres.
Fortunately, it seems as if Martin has finally found true love. He has been dating former New Yorker journalist Anne Stringfield, 35, since 2002. The two recently became engaged and they plan to wed later this year. Here’s hoping this will be an everlasting love for Steve.
