Sting Loses Discrimination Case
Sting may be an activist for world hunger, the rainforest, and human rights, but a judge recently ruled he and wife Trudie Styler sexually discriminated against their personal chef. The chef, Jane Martin, claimed she was fired when she became pregnant and the judge ordered the couple to pay a hefty, but as yet unknown, sum. Martin said Trudie forced her to work long hours and was angered when she took sick days. She had worked for the couple for eight years, but left in 2006.
Trudie and Sting said they plan to appeal the judgment, saying they were devastated by the ruling and that the chef was always treated generously.
Owen and Kate Making the Rounds
After claiming they weren’t a couple, Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson have finally come out and now seem almost inseparable. Kate has been seen with Owen twice this week in Dallas and Los Angeles as he supports his new film “The Wendall Baker Story.” The couple were seen holding hands, stroking each other’s backs, and dancing – a far cry for last fall when they tried to hide their affection for the cameras.
Brothers Andrew and Luke Owen approve of Kate as well. Andrew was quoted as saying, “she’s a great person” while Luke said, “they seem real good – very happy.”
T.R. Knight Advised to Stay in the Closet
While it may seem sometimes seem like it is getting easier to come out in Hollywood as a gay person, “Grey’s Anatomy” star T.R. Knight says he was advised by some close to him to not come out to People Magazine last year. While some friends were supportive, some told him to not make the announcement.
He made the decision to come out after fellow star Isaiah Washington used a homophobic slur on the set. He decided it was better to squelch rumors that were going around about his sexuality, despite the fact that he would have preferred to keep his private life private. He said he was happy with his decision. Washington, who went to rehab, has since apologized for his comments.
