Mamma Jolie Takes a Break
Angelina Jolie has won an Academy Award, but her priorities now seem to be her family. She has announced that she will be taking a year off from acting to spend more time with significant other Brad Pitt and their four children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh. Jolie said she would be in Prague for a few months this summer, and then take two months off. Working two more months after that, she plans to start her yearlong break. However, even though she says she is taking a break, she has signed up to star in the thriller The Changeling (directed by another Academy Award winning actor – Clint Eastwood), which will be released in 2008 and she is also rumored to be set to work on the Ayn Rand novel “Atlas Shrugged.”
Paula Abdul Breaks Her Nose
Right here at the busiest, most exciting time of the year for American Idol, Paula Abdul had an unfortunate accident. She fell last weekend, not only breaking her toe, bruising her arm, chest, and stomach, and tearing cartilage, but broke her nose as well. She tripped while trying to avoid stepping on her Chihuahua, Tulip. However, Paula didn’t let the pain keep her from sitting in her judges chair last night alongside fellow judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell. You could tell she was not 100%, but she still tried to encourage the two remaining finalists. Tonight, the winner will be announced, and then maybe Paula will have time for a little convalescence.
Jenna Fischer Breaks Back
Speaking of bad falls, Jenna Fischer (who plays receptionist Pam on “The Office”) suffered her own mishap when she fell down a flight of stairs at the New York restaurant Buddakan. This happened on May 14 while attending the restaurant for the TV upfront party for “The Office.” She broke four bones in her lower back, but she is expected to fully recovery.
I can sympathize with both Paula and Jenna. I have almost fallen to avoid stepping on my Jack Russell terrier and have fallen down steps in public. It didn’t break anything except my pride, but you have to fall, I think in the privacy of your own home is much better!
