I saw this recipe today and I immediately rushed to my computer to share it with you. It’s so simple and so clever! I have a five-year-old who recently declared to me that he wants to try sushi. Will he like it if he tries it? I don’t know. But I know he’ll love this one. And best of all, he can help me make it. For a colorful, tasty dessert you can make with your kids (and enjoy yourself, too) give this recipe a try.
For this recipe you’ll need:
4 Fruit Roll-ups (Get the green-colored ones if you can find them)
2 Tablespoons butter
2 ¼ cups Rice Crispies Cereal
4 sticks red licorice (like Red Vines)
To make this recipe:
Heat the butter in a saucepan. Once it’s melted, add the Rice Crispies and stir well to combine. (You’ll need to work fairly quickly from this point on).
Unroll the Fruit Roll-ups and remove the plastic. On one end (one of the short ends) place ¼ of the cereal mixture. Add 1 piece of licorice. Roll up as you would a burrito. Cut off the licorice that is sticking out. Dip a butter knife into water to moisten then cut the stuffed roll-up into “sushi” rings. It’s colorful. It’s delicious. It’s a great addition to a lunchbox or as an afternoon snack.
