I love the way God brings me to parts of the bible through my daily reading and they will be just what I need when I need them. I hope you have found the same.
This week I have been reading in Daniel and want to share some of the things that spoke to me from Daniel 2.
In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had a dream that concerned him. He wanted to know what it meant. His wise men could not reveal the meaning of his dream especially when he insisted, if they were so clever, they tell him the dream as well. He wasn’t going to be tricked by false interpretations of the dream, figuring if he told them the dream, they could say anything about what it meant. It sounds like he knew them well. So he decreed if they could not do this all of them would be killed. This included Daniel and his friends who had been taken captive from Israel some time earlier.
Daniel sought for time and then he and his friends prayed to God for revelation of the dream. God answered Daniel. Daniel knew exactly where his answer came from. David acknowledged God’s sovereignty and he received wisdom. You and I will also receive wisdom we need if we ask God and trust in Him.
Daniel let the king know God was the one who could tell him the dream. He then went on to give the dream and its interpretation. The dream revealed Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom and those that followed it would not last. But God’s kingdom would last. Nebuchadnezzar’s reaction is interesting. He recognized God was great and revealed His truths.
Daniel could have been afraid of giving such a message about the kingdom not lasting to the king. But he prayed, he trusted God and so he stepped boldly out in faith. There is a lesson in that for each of us. The lesson is to pray for wisdom, to trust God and boldly step out in faith with what God has given us. I’ve done that this week, have you?
