Karina, Mario and Mario

You have to wonder what happens when Mario Lopez visits his girlfriend Karina Smirnoff during rehearsals for her latest appearance on “Dancing with the Stars.” I’m sure there’s a lot of head turning going on… especially when the pro dancer compliments Mario… her new dance partner.

For season six of the popular ABC dance show Smirnoff has been paired with multi-platinum recording artist and actor Mario. (Hard to believe it was just three seasons ago that the sizzling hot Ukrainian-born dancer took Lopez all the way to the finals.)

Mario meet Mario.

Talk about déjà vu.

The new Mario calls Smirnoff a dynamo and says the pair is getting along “great” (hopefully not too “great” for Lopez’s sake) because they share many of the same personality traits, including dueling hot tempers.

“We kind of butt heads, but overall, I think we got a good shot at taking it all the way,” Mario told reporters just days before the pair was set to show off their moves on the “Dancing” premiere.

The big day is just four days away. I can’t wait. Although my money is on Olympic gold medal figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.

That’s who I’m putting my money (or where I would be putting it if I had any), but you have to know Lopez is pinning his hopes on his girl and her new dance partner… at least for now.

Word has it that the new Mario has been throwing a few barbs in Lopez’s direction.

Mario recently confirmed to reporters that he had indeed dropped Smirnoff during rehearsals, “but not as bad as Mario (Lopez) dropped her on her head. I’m just saying, there was a drop there.”

I’m sure Lopez’s pay back will come once the pair is eliminated before the finals.

Go Kristi!

Who will you be rooting for?
