Between the car, skateboard, bicycle, rollerblades, and our own two feet; transportation has made a new discovery. Kick boarding was introduced a few years ago as a new form of transportation. It is a mix between a scooter and a skateboard, and another way for individuals to get around without the use of walking.
One company, K2, known for their rollerblades of aggressive inline, developed a flexible deck board made of aluminum, carbon, and wood. There are three wheels, a kick brake (like a bicycle), and handle bars to help the rider steer where they need to go.
Similar to the maneuvers of a skateboard or snowboard, the kickboard works by the same concept. With the slight shift of your weight, the kickboard will move one way or the other. It is flexible enough to fold up and stick in a book bag and light enough to carry when not being used.
Not only do extreme sports enthusiasts use a kick board, but many commuters in a major city find this to be a useful way of getting around without using public transportation. They could live in the city and just hop on their kick board and off to work or when they come out of the subway, with one easy unfold, their kick board is ready to transport them to their office.
Children who walk to school or work, also can use a kick board to get them to school and then an after school sport. Of course helmets should always be worn as you can never be too careful.
With the kick board weighing only 7 pounds, is it no wonder this trend has taken off?
Besides the convenience of transportation and affordable price, this is a great form of fitness! Instead of taking public transportation from your house directly to your office door, now with a few kicks each morning, the oxygen will get pumping and your workout can begin before you even start your work day.
Who needs that cup of coffee when you can wake up with the rush of oxygen to the body?
The options are endless for your kick board from off road tires to street tired. Different handle bars or styles and colors can all be bought to match your personal preference. Always wear protective gear and obey all laws while riding your kick board.
